This hidden gem is located on Davis Dr. between Morrisville Parkway and Morrisville-Carpenter Rd. Although I usually avoid chain restaurants, I had heard great things about Bamboo Garden. The one thing to note, though, that even though it seems like they’re offerings are typical chinese food, they are done with an East India twist. There’s an often repeated phrase, “This is a great Chinese restaurant because of the number of Chinese customers.” Well in this case, this is a great Indian food restaurant because there are always a number of families of East Indian descent seated in the dining room.
If you are sensitive to spicy foods please let the waiter know and they will tone down the spice. But if you’re a spice fan (like me) you’ll love the delightful heat emanating from these dishes. For those more adventurous, there is soy sauce, chili garlic sauce and vinegar on the table along with the ubiquitous salt and pepper.
I definitely recommend sharing some appetizers. My favorites are the Lettuce Wraps, the Crispy Chili Potatoes, crispy chili baby corn and pan fried chili paneer. Paneer, as I later found out, resembles tofu in texture and flavor but is made of a cheese product.
Entrées. I also tried the Sliced Lamb Hot Garlic. I am usually not a fan of lamb, but they cook it in a way that removes all the gamy taste. It is cooked perfectly tender and delicious. I enjoyed the Fish Hong Kong which has pieces of tender fish fillets steamed and served with a very light soy based sauce.
They have a beautiful bar for their specialty cocktails and dessert selection for after your meal. Over all, a pleasant dining experience.
